Wood Golden Gate Bridge Tower
This Bridge tower model was developed with the Golden Gate Park Service in San Francisco. Designed in the beautiful Art Deco Style; this iconic bridge opened in 1937 and was the longest suspension span for decades! The steel was provisionally painted in International Orange as an undercoat to prevent rusting, which then was adopted as the final color. As the designer put it: It is an appropriately bold color for a bold design! As the bridge ages, and acquires a burnished patina, it remains a testament to ingenuity and excellence of design and civic engineering.
This model is at scale 1"= 42', and measures 18" tall. It is painted International orange, with a clear coat finish. The wood is finished before laser-cutting, then etched and scored by the laser to render the details. The model comes assembled.
